5th quintuplet goes home from hospital
Ten months after a South Florida couple welcomed their quintuplets, the family returned to Jackson Memorial Hospital to honor the doctors who helped them and raise awareness about congenital heart defects.
Jose Molina and his wife, Diana, said they feel complete now that all five of their children are home. Enzo was the smallest at less than 2 pounds when he was born.
“Not only was he a premature quintuplet, but he also had very, very serious, complex heart disease,” said Dr. William Harmon, the division chief of pediatric cardiology.
Enzo went home about a week and a half ago, and doctors said he is expected to grow and develop normally.
“My entire family is home now, so I consider myself happy – the happiest person in the world,” Jose Molina said.
His siblings, Iker, Jorge, Fabio and Valentina, are also thriving.
Diana Molina’s mother returned to Honduras last month, so while Jose Molina is at work, the babies’ mother is alone with the five babies. But after trying for nine years to conceive, the couple said they cherish every moment.
“We don’t think about how hard it is. We just think about how happy we are,” Jose Molina said.
Jose Molina said the babies mostly sleep through the night, but with so much work to be done, Diana Molina said she rarely sleeps more than four hours.
